To make an assignment in bankruptcy or a proposal, one must engage a professional bankruptcy trustee.

THE BANKRUPTCY AND INSOLVENCY ACT >> sets out the rights and obligations of the various parties involved in bankruptcy or other insolvency proceedings. The Act also provides a system which enables debtors to make proposals to creditors to pay debts over time, usually at a reduced amount.

Court Location

The Bankruptcy Court sits primarily in Halifax but will sit in
other locations if circumstances require.
