Pierre Muise Appointed to
Provincial And Family Courts

Judge MuisePierre Muise of Quinan in Yarmouth County has been appointed to Nova Scotia's Provincial and Family Courts. Chief Judges Patrick Curran and John Comeau made the announcement Friday, June 5th.

Judge Muise comes to the Bench from the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service in Yarmouth where he has been serving as a senior Crown Attorney.

Judge Muise is bilingual and will conduct trials in French as well as English. His appointment will ensure that the Courts' French language services are maintained. He will replace Judge Jean-Louis Batiot when he retires.

Judge Muise graduated from Dalhousie University in 1995 with a bachelor of laws degree. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1996 and has been working with the Public Prosecution Service since then. He has also been the president and director of the Yarmouth County Barristers' Society and an executive member and recognized agent of the Confederacy of Nova Scotia Métis and the Yarmouth and District Métis Council.

The Honourable Pierre Léon Muise will be sworn-in as Judge of the Nova Scotia Provincial and Family Courts at a ceremony in Digby, NS on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 4:00 PM.
