SWEARING IN CEREMONY PHOTOS

The Honourable N. M. (Nick) Scaravelli was sworn in as Justice of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court on January 15 in a ceremony at the courthouse in Pictou Nova Scotia. Justice Scaravelli was appointed in December.

Before his appointment, Justice Scaravelli was a senior partner in the New Glasgow firm of MacIntosh MacDonnell & MacDonald. He has been practicing law in Nova Scotia for more than 30 years.

Justice Scaravelli received a Bachelor of Laws in 1973 from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Commerce in 1970 from St. Mary's University. He was admitted to the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1974.

He practised with Fitzgerald and Associates in Halifax (1974-1977) before moving to MacIntosh MacDonnell & MacDonald (1977-2006).

Justice Scaravelli's practice expertise is in the areas of family law, real estate law, arbitration, corporate and commercial law, and criminal law.

He has been a member of the Executive of the Nova Scotia Branch of the CBA - Labour Section, the Executive of Pictou County Day Care Centre, and a Member of the Advisory Board of the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation.
