Justice Peter Rosinski To Be Sworn-in October 29th

Justice Rosinski was appointed on Wednesday, August 11th by The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. The appointment took effect immediately.

Justice Rosinski comes to the Bench from the Public Prosecution Service of Nova Scotia where, most recently, he was Senior Crown Counsel in the Appeals Group (since 2005). He will replace Justice Peter Bryson who was appointed to the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal on August 5th of 2010.

Justice Rosinski received a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) in 1981; a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in 1982 and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 1985, all from Dalhousie University. He was admitted to the Bar of Alberta in 1986, the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1987 and the Bar of Turks & Caicos in 1989.

He has been a Crown Attorney with the Public Prosecution Service of Nova Scotia since 1989. He also practiced with the law firm of McLean & Associates in the Turks & Caicos Islands in 1989; Margeson & Wilson in 1988; and MacIntosh, MacDonnell & MacDonald from 1986 to 1988. He articled to Peter M. Clark, Q.C., now Justice of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer in Calgary.

He was a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and of the Provincial Court Liaison Subcommittee.

Justice Rosinski will be sworn-in to the Nova Scotia Supreme Court at a ceremony in the Law Courts (Upper Water Street, Halifax) on Friday, October 29th at 2:00 pm. The public is invited. The ceremony will be broadcast live on this website. << watch live web-cast >>
