F.L.I.C. OPENS AT HALIFAX FAMILY COURTHOUSE

The Family Law Information Centre (FLIC) is now open at the Family Court on Devonshire Avenue in Halifax.

FLIC is a joint project of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice and the Supreme Court Family Division. It is designed to provide free information about family law. It is not, however, intented replace the advice of lawyers or other legal experts.

Instead, FLIC offers information about the court process, court services, and a variety of other legal topics. It provides referarals to community agencies and programs which can offer further help. And it develops and presents family law information sessions.

In addition to an extensive collection of brochures including such titles as "Divorce Law: Questions and Answers", FLIC also maintains a video library. You can watch videos such as "Your Day In Court" and "Parenting After Separation" or show your children, "It's Different Now But That's OK" and "Parents Are Forever".

The centre also has a computer work station for you to use, free of charge, to find more information or fill out court forms.

From time to time, FLIC will also be presenting free information sessions on family law at convenient hours of the day. Check with the centre for dates, times, and topics.
