If you live outside the Halifax Regional Municipality or Cape Breton, you’ll be going to the Supreme Court or the Family Court, depending on your particular situation.

  • If you live outside the Halifax Regional Municipality or Cape Breton and you are dealing with divorce or division of property, you will need Supreme Court forms <<click here >>
  • If you live outside the Halifax Regional Municipality or Cape Breton and
    you are dealing with family-law matters other than divorce or division of property
    you will need Family Court forms <<click here>>

 

  • If you live in Halifax Regional Municipality or Cape Breton, you will go to the Supreme Court (Family Division) for all family law matters. This includes if :
    • you are married
    • you are common law
    • you are registered domestic partners
    • you have never lived together and are unmarried
    • you are a grandparent, stepparent, or another third party who wants the court to make an order about custody, access, or child support
